Frequently asked questions

Who can use your services?

Right now I am working with older teens and young adults ages 16-30. I primarily meet with people needing support with relationships, anxiety, depression, life transitions, substance use, and healing from past trauma. I also work with young people who are struggling with perfectionism and overwhelm, whether in school, their job, or other areas of their lives. I can provide referrals if you are looking for help with something that is outside of my specialities!

Is therapy right for me?

I personally believe that most people could benefit from therapy. Notice I said “most”! Sometimes folks prefer to do their own self-work in the form of setting goals, journaling, using their support systems, or other ways of taking care of their mental health. Some people are “not therapy people” and that’s okay- if you’re willing to put in the work to get where you’d like to go. Having a neutral, supportive person in your life to help you make these changes and see results is the reason why a lot of folks do pursue therapy.

What will we talk about?

I’ll start with where you are and see what changes you’re looking to make and where you’d like your life to be. My work with each individual is different but I generally establish a therapeutic relationship (ie., get to a point where you feel comfortable talking to me- that’s important!) and then go into what you’re looking for in your life. I use a lot of “in the moment” exercises and figure out ways to challenge what is keeping you stuck or rooted in old habits or patterns.

What is confidential?

I can keep what is said in our sessions confidential, or within the session, with a few exceptions that are primarily regarding safety. I am a mandated reporter for child, dependent adult, or elder abuse (past, present or future) and also must report if you share that someone is in danger. I would also have to disclose information in the case of a subpoena ordered by a judge. We will discuss confidentiality and its limits in our first session and you can ask any questions you have about what is confidential in therapy.

Can I see you in person? Do you offer video sessions?

Yes to both!
I offer in-person therapy in beautiful Half Moon Bay, CA (located on the San Francisco Bay Peninsula on the coast).
I also offer telehealth/video sessions if you are short on time, live further away (anywhere in CA!), or prefer the ease of meeting over video.
