About

Background

Meet Laura

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a Masters in Counseling Psychology who has been doing therapy for 20 years. I am also a Clinical Supervisor training associate MFTs in the field. Before starting my private practice, I worked in a variety of settings in the mental health field- schools, clinics, and nonprofits to name a few. For 10 years I worked as a school-based therapist for students ages 5-19, specializing in working with youth who were struggling with anxiety, school-based perfectionism, family relational trauma and substance use. In my work I use a blend of ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. And I use humor a lot, and drop the occasional 4-letter word when the moment is right (see study backing this). Most of all, I am here for you: neutral, outside of your family/social circle, understanding and consistent.

A Little More Personal

A Few Fun Facts About Me

  • I am an unashamed karaoke singer.
  • I spend my free time reading, playing sports or running, and watching shows including bad reality tv.
  • I’m terrible at opening things (packages, chip bags, presents).
  • I laugh a lot and probably swear too much.
  • I think awkward is so much more fun than polished.
  • I believe in progress, not perfection.

Location

Half Moon Bay

My office is located in beautiful Half Moon Bay, California, a small town on the coastal San Francisco Bay Area peninsula. Meeting for sessions in a quiet office building right on Main Street, you will be steps away from locally-owned shops, restaurants, and coffee shops. It's also walking distance from the awe-inspiring coastal trail and nearby beaches. Before or after your session, enjoy what the area has to offer:
